Gavin had his birthday party yesterday. It turned out to be a lot of fun. We had it at a place called Papa’s Pizza here in Corvallis. It was an absolute madhouse! We got there about 15 minutes early to set up but they weren’t able to get our table ready until almost exactly 1:30PM (our reservation time). Gavin was quite upset and was in tears when we first got there. Of course, none of his friends had arrived and it was SOOOO busy. He came up to me in tears and said, “Mommy, we can’t have my party here! It’s too busy!” I felt bad for him, but I reassured him that it would be better once his friends got there and they could all play. It didn’t take long for them to arrive and he did just fine.

All of the kids had a lot of fun. One little boy, I was a little worried about. He cries a lot when he gets dropped off at school, so I didn’t know how he’d do being dropped off at a party at a crazy pizza parlor. But, he did fine and seemed to really enjoy himself. His mom said it was the first time she didn’t get a call saying that he was crying.

Gavin was also happy that David was able to come to his party this year. Last year he had just gotten out of the hospital for the first time and so we didn’t bring him along to Gavin’s party. But, it seems that everyone was in good health for this event and everyone had a lot of fun.

Gavin got a lot of nice gifts. We now have a huge herd of dinosaurs (as if we didn’t already) and some new games. He managed to find the gift from his Aunt Dee when we got home, so I let him open that before his actual birthday which will be in a few days. They got him the plush Dragonology Frost Dragon. He was so excited! He even ask to call Aunt Dee to thank her, which showed how much he loved getting that as a gift.

It’s hard to believe that he was born five years ago. It doesn’t seem like it could possible be that long since he was a baby! He was born the night the Iraq War started. I remember watching the Sadaam clock counting down and that they were dropping bombs on Bagdad about the time we got moved into the postpartum room. Crazy to think that was FIVE YEARS AGO!
